A whole year of 1981.

Somehow, twelve months have passed since we sent our first fragrances out into the world. What began as a slightly obsessive idea between the two of us has become six fragrances, countless stories and a wonderfully individual community of people wearing 1981 in ways we could never have planned.

You have taken our fragrances to work, on holiday, into evenings that became mornings and through ordinary days that deserved something less ordinary. You have layered them, shared them, gifted them and made them completely your own. That has always been the point.

It has been quite a first year. The collection is now available in more than 40 stores across the UK and Ireland, introducing 1981 to new people, new places and plenty of new noses. And while we’re incredibly proud of how far we’ve come, our sights are already set on taking 1981 into stores around the world.

We also created the Fragrance Fund - our own way of rewarding the people who shop with us. It was built to make discovering, wearing and returning to 1981 feel that little bit more rewarding, without becoming just another points scheme.

Now, for our first birthday, we’re opening the doors to the new 1981 Community: a place to share what you wear, when you wear it and what happens when you make 1981 your own.

To mark the occasion, everyone who shares their story before 30 September will be entered into our first-birthday competition, with one lucky winner receiving a 100ml fragrance of their choice.

One year in, 1981 no longer belongs only to us. It belongs to everyone who wears it differently, tells somebody about it, discovers it in one of our stockists, comes back for another bottle or simply finds a fragrance that feels like them.

Thank you for giving 1981 such a brilliant first year.
